Why Canadian Copyright is Stronger than US

Michael Geist links to a comprehensive post by Howard Knopf aimed at filling the void left by Canada declining to participant in the USTR’s recent call for comments. This post is well worth reading and bookmarking as a resource to clearly understand the differences in the two countries’ respective laws.

Knopf is arguing through this list of excessive laws or consequences thereof that the special trading status with which the US has labeled Canada is unjustified. Far from being a haven of copyright criminals easily escaping the rule of law, in many ways the legal landscape is even more tortured and difficult to navigate than stateside.
