The story about the “private” version of the Android SDK was very disappointing, but there was another story I found equally as disappointing: Google has removed the implementation of XMPP they were intially using in Android and have replaced it with GTalk. This TechCrunchIT story interprets this to mean that all real-time communication not on HTTP or SMS will have to go through Google’s GTalk servers. Overall, Android is looking less and less open.
