TCLP 2007-08-26 News (Comment Line 360-252-7284)

This is news cast 111.

A couple of reminders. I will not make it out to this month’s DC CopyNight. There will be no shows on the 29th or the 2nd but I will post some audio, not sure what, on my return on the 5th. I will be at Dragon*Con from the 29th until the 4th or 5th. If you are going to be there, send me a note and we’ll gather if there are enough of us. Otherwise, look for me at the podcasting and EFF tracks.

This week’s security alerts include a debate over XSS flaws in Googles widget hosting and a Trojan is used in a data breach at Monster.com.

In this week’s news, a new ISP launches with a guarantee to provide a neutral network, a progress update on the question of whether making available copyrighted material is infringment, another discussion of leadership for hackers, and combining nanotechnology with neural networks for computation.

Following up this week, the creator of LiveJournal speaks about open social networks and ES&S screws up again by selling at the time uncertified systems to several counties for California’s last election.
