This episode is a news cast.

Listener feedback this week is from Brian with some fascinating if slightly upsetting speculation about the future of a free internet being built on top of bots if current trends remain unchallenged.

Security alerts this week include continuing issues with Safari’s open safe files feature, a critical flaw with the tool the Month of Apple Fixes project is using, and Adobe patches the nasty XSS vulnerability I discussed last time.

In this week’s news, copyright regulations in Canada are about to get much worse, a project is accepting pledges to donate ten thousand dollars to development on an open nVidia driver for Linux, Bruce Schneier has some great analysis and advice on choosing secure passwords, and Linden Labs open sources their Second Life client under GPL2.

Following up this week, some of the press are catching up on the risks of the EU data retention law we’ve already discussed, legislation is being introduce to block the FCC from implementing a broadcast flag, and a new, bipartisan initiative starts up on network neutrality.
