This is deceptive, superficially it might seem like a good idea. Privacy concerns aside, I agree with Bruce Schneier’s opinion that if you provide a low security, trusted passage through an airport, it simply invites terrorists to subvert this system. Credentials are not the problem, as many others have stated, the 9/11 terrorists had valid credentials. Yeah, airport security is a hassle and arguably doesn’t work, but this sort of proposition is just dangerous.
I also didn’t realize that Bruce, last month and earlier, was writing about this very same system. Hopefully further publicity around it is tempered with comments from either him or folks who think like him.
