France Introduces Safety Law that Includes Online Censorship

What The Register compares to the Australian experiments in censorship is far more sweeping, including measures supposed to increase safety in a variety of spaces, both online and off. Despite concern and criticism, the law has passed its first reading in Parliament. There is no mention of an initial pilot or experiment, unlike Australia. Worse, there is no judicial oversight of the banned lists and undoubtedly there is no mechanism for dealing with an incorrect listing.
