Wikileaks Suspends Operations for Pledge Drive

The Register brought this to my attention. If you visit Wikileaks between now and the 6th of January, 2010, you won’t see the usual site, rather a plea to help support operation of this critical project. Wikileaks is run as a charity though there are no specific details of the possible tax deductible status of your donation. Regardless, for those who do want to send some funds, they provide a wide variety of means for doing so, not just the usual PayPal button.

The call for support isn’t limited to money, though, and if you scroll down the temporary home page, there are details on how you can contribute technical and legal help to the project.

The list of existing supporters is impressive, both from public interest groups and even from some very recognizable publishers in the newspaper space.
