Bill to Add Technical Expertise to the FCC

Cecilia Kang of the Washington Post has the details. The bill, proposed by Senators Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) and Mark Warner (D-Va.) on Monday, will allow the five FCC commissioners to add a single staffer each, specifically as a technical expert. This staffer would be either an electrical engineer or a computer scientist. The new hires would be comparable to the policy analysts that the commissioners currently have on staff in terms of their advisory roles and responsibilities.

Now, if we can just get someone to introduce a similar bill for Congress and their staff.
