Philosophy Professor Won’t Go to Jail for Unofficial Translation

I linked to this story back in March, a clear case of fair use as the original source material was simply not otherwise available.

Cory shares the final, positive outcome in the case at Boing Boing. The piece to which he links also sees this as an opening for a wider discussion around the issues of access and fair use that this case raised. It won’t serve as a legal precedent though the professor in question is perhaps better served by a simple dropping of the charges. There is hope it will serve as a value lesson to spark discussion, regardless.
