My 4th Anniversary Episode

On June 22nd, 2009, I will have been producing and hosting this podcast for four years. I will be celebrating the shows anniversary with a special episode on June 24th.

To celebrate this time I wanted to ask you, the listener, for stories. This worked very well for my collaborative audio promo so I thought I would model my request for help after that project. I want to hear, in your own words, how the podcast has affected your life. Has it inspired you to start a new project? Are you learning a new programming language or technology? Have you volunteered with some technical advocacy or community support project?

You can be specific, thinking of your favorite segments in your favorite episodes. You can also just think about how you’ve acted on the show’s motto, hack your world. Your stories can be humorous, simple or surprising, as long as they are personal and interesting to your fellow listeners.

Record your thoughts in the highest quality audio you can. Send it to me as an attachment or send me a link where I can download it. If you don’t have access to equipment to record, you can call the listener line, 240-949-2638. You can also just write up your story in an email for me to read on the show and send it to feedback at thecommandline dot net. In all cases, include your preferred attribution, just a name or a name and a website, whatever you like.

Whether I am able to use your story or not, I will credit you in the notes for the episode.

Send me your story by June 17th. On that day, I will randomly draw some of your names. I will have a few prizes to reward your participation. Among the prizes, I will have a copy of J.C. Hutchins’ new book, Personal Effects: Dark Art. Between now and then I’ll be adding a couple more prizes to give away.

On the 24th, I will announce the winners in the intro to the episode.

Thanks for listening and thanks for helping me celebrate another year of the show.
