Better

CNN is calling the election for Barack Obama. The numbers seem to be bearing this out as the tabulation continues.

No candidate is all things to all Americans. But I feel a hope I haven’t felt in years that now things will finally get better.

I do not know what change will come about this specific result. However, the 2008 election shows progressive ideals in America remain strong. Obama may not ultimately deliver on his promises for change, but his victory demonstrates our readiness to move beyond timid racial acceptance into genuine equality. Despite the pundits, racial fears and anxieties have not prevented his victory. Perhaps we will begin shedding those legacies from our participation on the global stage as well.

Well said. I concur that what this says about the American public is as important as anything the man does while in office.
