This week’s security alerts include a tool for supposedly finding buffer overflows and the security industry shifting to using white lists.

In this week’s news, first copyright suit in the US over GPL violations including a discussion of a related case and the text of the complaint, monitoring for network discrimination in service to network neutrality including information about the author, more problematic opinions from the US Copyright Register, and using nanowires for data storage.

Following up this week, Felten’s analysis of the ITIF paper and the Virgin bilboard ads prompt a law suit including the Creative Commons as a defendant and some comments from Lessig.
