Bill Might Abridge Political Speech
Can this be right? Bill S. 1 is currently before Congress and could impose penalties on grass roots causes and citizens who criticize the government. This bill is supposed to be about lobbying reform, what does threatening critical discourse have to do with that?!? It looks like the section in question may have been intended to prevent a possible loophole on the form of astroturfing. But if that is so, why is it it conditioned on number of listeners or subscribers rather than some monetary amount?
Time to write our Senators though I can’t imagine this standing up to a judicial challenge. All the same, I’d rather not let it come to that.
