Aussie Copyright Law Way Overshoots the Mark
I’ve talked about how a US trade agreement is forcing Australia to implement DMCA-like copyright protections. However, this article reveals that a bill about to pass the house way overshoots any criteria involved in the trade agreement. If the analysis is correct, this is just about the most severe copyright law in any jurisdiction. And the experts are totally scratching their heads as to both how it came about and why it is being rushed so quickly to passage.
Anyone see any more coverage of this that may shed some better light?
Update: The consequences of this law are even worse than the first article suggested. Now, apparently, search engines could effectively be blocked.
